This Houston-based amazing couple braved the Texas Hill Country’s “winter” wind storm last week and I’m so glad they did!! We had their engagement shoot on the calendar and sometimes you just have to go with the flow when mother nature decides to give you a 30 degree wind chill and gusts of wind over 20 mph! Cyrus & Lindsay handled it like the worldly champs they are (I on the other hand may have looked rediculous behind the camera with my hat/fingerless gloves, sweater, scarf and 2 jackets on!). They’re getting married next fall at Camp Lucy’s beautiful Ian’s Chapel so we met over at the second wedding venue, Sacred Oaks to grab some photos of the two of them for their engaement photos! It was a fun photo shoot and I always love getting to know my couples better and learning more about their love story! So, in honor of that, I had Lindsay share with you all their amazing story of how they met (and reconnected!) along with a few other fun questions you can read below. Also, shoutout to the amazing Celissa Rae for doing Lindsay’s hair and makeup! The airbrush makeup is such a treat and she looked flawless!
Congratulations you two! Thank you for having fun with me and making it look warm and wind-free?!?!
Cyrus and I actually met in grade school in Malaysia! We both spent most of our up-bringing abroad in Southeast Asia and Europe and reconnected in Houston about 3 years ago at a Christmas party hosted by mutual family friends. A couple months after the party, a group invitation for drinks after work sent by Cyrus turned into an accidental 1st date – and here we are 3 years later! 🙂
We wanted to shoot at Camp Lucy since our wedding is at Ian’s Chapel but chose Sacred Oaks to explore other parts of the property.
A year and a half-ish 🙂
Cyrus proposed Easter weekend – he surprised me with a proposal on our rooftop balcony after a long day of work and then a surprise mystery trip! We left the next day for the weekend to Sea Ranch, CA. A wonderful, romantic, and secluded getaway where we could just celebrate together. It was perfect!
Cyrus hit it out of the ball park on this.. I told him the cut of the stone I liked and he took it from there creating a custom ring that is beyond beautiful!
We originally wanted to get married in Napa/Sonoma but ended up coming across Camp Lucy online (Cyrus found it actually 🙂 and we were intrigued… Once on the property we fell in love with the views, architecture, and serenity. We also felt a connection to the property with the Southeast Asian influences.
Our ceremony and seeing all of our family and friends from all chapters of life!
We both love to travel – we got the travel bug early on! We also love a good bottle of wine and a great meal with family or friends.
Congratulations Cyrus & Lindsay!!!!
