Neuschwanstein Castle Wedding Photos Part 2

Neuschwanstein Castle Wedding Photos Part 2

Fairy Tale castles are what dreams are made of right?? The ‘Mad” King Ludwig II had such a love for them he was also nicknamed “der Märchenkönig” (The Fairy Tale King)…..and his castle Neuschwanstein inspired one of my favorites, Walt Disney when he was designing Disneyland.  Getting to combine my love for wedding photography, sparkly crowns and castles was a dream come true.  Add to that beautiful sunshine, crisp white snow and an international love story and this bucket-list wedding photo shoot was a dream come true.  If you’re planning a visit, this website is great:  https://www.hohenschwangau.de For those that may have missed Part 1 (and the origin story) you’ll want to scroll back up and check it out: (http://jessicafreyphotographyblog.com/neuschwanstein-castle-wedding-photo-shoot) After shooting in the snow-covered field down below Neuschwanstein castle and Schwangau, we drove to park near the ticket center and prepared to hike, yes hike up a mud-covered road 5 kilometers up hill. To say that Manuel & Madison are rockstars is an understatement!  Add to that being in a wedding dress (and snow boots!) and it was 20 degrees AND she was wearing a tiara AND it took about 40min. I was impressed.  Sometimes the hike up the hill is worth it and we just kept telling ourselves how EPIC it was going to be!  That and all the tourists were saying hello, looking sideways and genuinely curious to see a princess bride walking up to the castle! What we weren’t prepared for when we finally made it to the top was for the entire front of the castle to be COVERED IN SCAFFOLDING. What.!?!?!?!  Crap.  No...

Neuschwanstein Castle Wedding Photo Shoot

Neuschwanstein Castle (German: Schloss Neuschwanstein, English: “New Swanstone Castle”[1]) is a nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner. Ludwig paid for the palace out of his personal fortune and by means of extensive borrowing, rather than Bavarian public funds. The palace was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive king, but it was opened to the paying public immediately after his death in 1886.[2] Since then more than 61 million people have visited Neuschwanstein Castle.[3] More than 1.3 million people visit annually, with as many as 6,000 per day in the summer.[4] The palace has appeared prominently in several movies such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Great Escape and serves as the inspiration for Disneyland‘s Sleeping Beauty Castle[5] and later, similar structures. Ok, now that we’re all caught up on how epically amazing Neuschwanstein is, let’s dive into some of the back story of this amazing photo shoot Part 1: I woke up early Saturday morning in Munich and after packing a few essentials – like 3 tiaras in my bag, grabbing a handmade bouquet (more on that later), my ski pants and my photography equipment I headed for the main train station in Munich and bought a day pass to ride the local Bavarian train.  I had a 1.5 hour ride with one station change to visit the town of Seeg, the hometown of our groom, Miguel!  Madison (a native of Nebraska), met me...

Happy Halloween From Mickey’s Halloween Party!

Happy Halloween everyone!! Eric and I are back in Austin, TX after a whirlwind trip to California…and our last day there we had tickets to attend the annual Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disneyland!!  It’s our 3rd year and always a bit too much fun for me – especially with my costume and how perfect Eric’s costume is this year!  I’m still living out a childhood dream and job I didn’t get while working at Disney World…and Disney Cosplay (as their calling it for adults) seems to be  the cool thing to do, yeah? My year was made though when we were approached by security saying they had gotten a call about me from a cast member working in Bibbiti Bobbiti Boutique…..a security call that I had lost my cast member assigned to help me.  You know, me.  Cinderella.  Cast member.  It apparently looked like I needed security since my crowd was growing and there were too many photographers around me without the help of a character greeter and I was stuck.  Yeah, it was heartbreaking to tell security that I was just a guest with an amazing costume and not an actual cast member!  Oh well, I enjoyed my day of living out a dream and am so thankful to have a husband and best friend who played along with me and had a great time at the happiest place on earth!!   Here are some awesome photos my bestie, Jennifer Williams took while we were there (who by the way made an AWESOME Mary-approved Mary Poppins!!)  Bakersfield brides…if you need a wedding photographer, she’s my...

Freyday – Behind The Scenes of Little Mermaid Photo Shoot!

Hey guys!! So, it’s FREY-day again!! (You’re now pronouncing that Friday, correct?  Since Frey is pronounced Fri and not Fray?)  Anyway….. wanted to share with you guys just a few behind the scenes photos of our Little Mermaid Fairy Tale & Wedding photo shoot!!  I didn’t get very many – we were pressed with time between the traffic to get there, the sun setting and oh – the 200 people also sharing the same little beach!  I wish I had a shot of how many people were on the beach with us that day!!!  Our shoot was planned the weekend it turned out to be 100 degrees inland in Califorina, so everyone and their mom went to the beach that Sunday!  But, we managed to make it look empty by placement and some of my photoshop tricks! I guess if you haven’t seen the shoots, you should start here:  Fairy Tale Shoot  and  Wedding Shoot Details and Wedding Part 2. Below: Waiting for 10 paramedics and a firetruck to help a guy on the only stairway down who fell….hope he’s okay!!!   Interesting start though waiting 15min. to be able to access the beach! Below – some iPhone pictures of hubby and my good friend Jason who were life savers in helping set up the decor! THIS is what was really going on the entire time we were shooting!  If you can imagine there were about 50 people behind me, and at least 3 other photographers to the left and behind this rock formation 😉 The fabulous Jennie, owner of Duchess Productions!!!!  She’s the one behind these gloriously sparkly...
