Winter Wedding Style – Lake Tahoe Bridal Shoot

“Alpine Chic” Any winter wedding brides out there?!  I had a vision that I was so excited to execute while vacationing with my best friend in Lake Tahoe last weekend – something a little different for that winter wedding in the woods, an idea for a bride wanting to stay warm yet still modern with a sense of style.  We decided to call this look Alpine Chic 🙂  What do you think?  It’s a little non-traditional!  A big thank you to Maureen for modeling for me and running through the snow in a ball gown skirt!  We had a lot of laughs and I hope I can inspire someone out there with my winter wedding vision!!   Skirt: Maggie Sottero Shirt: Eddie Bauer Necklace: Apricot Lane Bakersfield Location: South Lake Tahoe Wedding Photography for couples who believe that love is worth celebrating   www.JessicaFreyPhotography.com  ...

An Orchard Bridal Shoot

When most CA residents think of Bakersfield, we typically don’t get a good rep for being pretty/gorgeous/clean blue skies/etc.  No, if you’re just driving through on the 99 what you see truly isn’t pretty…we’re typically known for being 115 degrees, having dirt everywhere, not much green grass, toxic dirty air.  Well, you know what?  Spring here is BEAUTIFUL!  For about 2 weeks every year, we shine especially on the outskirts of town at the base of those huge mountain ranges that are actually surrounding us 365 days a year even when we can’t see them!    If you live in Bakersfield, you know this was the peak week/weekend for the almond orchards to be in full bloom.  Allergies, bees and snow-like awesomeness unite! I had one of my favorite local families ask to shoot their family photos in the orchards and as I scoped the particular field I wanted to use I noticed how unbelievable they were.  So incredible in fact that I had another vision in my head of a bride running down one of the picturesce, snowy aisles.  So, I I knew I had to make it happen asap!  I knew the mom, Dana had produced stunning girls who can easily model along with the possibility of her future daughter in law who would also be at the family shoot….so why not throw my wedding dress (which has been used in more than one photo shoot now) grab some beautiful yellow daffodils which are in season and have my assistant Rachel make a bouquet with my signature color, turquoise….and try it out after the family shoot!  We...

Dry Lake Bed Wedding Fashion Shoot

Bridal Fashion Shoot Try #2!  For those of you visiting on Thursday, the original post yesterday disappeared, and Word Press erased it.  I know, boo.  If you’re just visiting Wednesday’s blog post, welcome!  I had the amazing opportunity to bring together two good friends and gorgeous ladies, Beth and Amanda at 5:30am in a dry lake bed outside Las Vegas for an early morning, rediculously cold bridal fashion shoot!  These girls rocked it out, and yes…I did have to soften the skin to get rid of the goosebumps that just wouldn’t go away 😉  I was able to use some of the new techniques I learned while at WPPI 2011, the largest wedding photographer trade show and conference in the US. A huge thanks goes out to Jenny from Little White Dress Bridal (Bakersfield, Ca) for loaning me 4 gorgeous gowns, to Courtney Clarke Photography (Victoria, Canada) for shooting with me, to Beth and Amanda for modeling, to Brandy Neugebauer from Las Vegas for doing a 2am hair and makeup session for us, and to Jesse Lai for assisting and taking some sweet behind the scene photos you can find on my facebook page (www.Facebook.com/JFreyPhotography) I was able to learn a few One-light techniques that helped bring some new aspects to my photography and these girls were kind enough to let me practice!  For my photographer friends, I had an SB-800, Cheetah light stand, small studio umbrella, 2 Pocket Wizards Plus II, and props that I brought from home.  I had envisioned a wide angle, dramatic skies type shoot with pops of color.  I am so excited with the...
