2017 The Knot Best of Weddings Winner!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!  Each year I say that I’m soooo blessed with amazing clients, but it’s true.  Transferring a California based business that was successful for 5 years to Austin, Texas two years ago I was nervous – nervous to essentially start over finding my ideal “Jessica Frey” clients who would trust me, refer me and write referrals!  Prayers were answered, and I was blessed with another year full of amazing weddings that showcased true love and families coming together to celebrate that love. I’m thankful that 9 years ago I had family and friends believe in me and push me to follow a passion and make it into a business.  I’ve had the honor of being a part of one of the most special day of a couple’s life and love that those couples trust me and refer me every year….and write the most amazing reviews for me on TheKnot.com!  This year in particular, I had some incredible reviews from parents and that just means the world to me! Camp Lucy proposal – Caleb & Ali

Camp Lucy proposal – Caleb & Ali

Happy Valentine’s Day!!  What a perfect day to share this love story with you all!  I had the pleasure of working with Caleb to document the day he proposed to his future bride and asked her to marry him and spend the rest of her life with him!  Such an honor and an afternoon full of anticipation, joy and celebration!  Caleb designed the best surprise and I asked them both to chat with you all a little bit about their perfect proposal day at Camp Lucy!  Check it all out down below: 1) Would you recommend getting your proposal photographed to your friends after having experienced it? I would for sure recommend having your proposal captured. Ali and I have enjoyed looking through our photos and remembering the array of emotions that each of us felt during this special time. The photos are real and show the true happiness that engagement is supposed to be about. Plus Jessica made me feel at ease and was so great about capturing our special moments!  . 2) Caleb, you chose to keep the proposal part private between you two, can you talk more about that for future men thinking of proposing and having it photographed? I think that popping the question is an extremely intimate act, not to mention can be nerve racking. There is truly something special about being the only two in the room, when you ask that special question. After she says yes, the expression on her face is priceless and the pictures captured this so beautifully. . 3) Caleb, do you have any advice for men planning the perfect...
Neuschwanstein Castle Wedding Photos Part 2

Neuschwanstein Castle Wedding Photos Part 2

Fairy Tale castles are what dreams are made of right?? The ‘Mad” King Ludwig II had such a love for them he was also nicknamed “der Märchenkönig” (The Fairy Tale King)…..and his castle Neuschwanstein inspired one of my favorites, Walt Disney when he was designing Disneyland.  Getting to combine my love for wedding photography, sparkly crowns and castles was a dream come true.  Add to that beautiful sunshine, crisp white snow and an international love story and this bucket-list wedding photo shoot was a dream come true.  If you’re planning a visit, this website is great:  https://www.hohenschwangau.de For those that may have missed Part 1 (and the origin story) you’ll want to scroll back up and check it out: (http://jessicafreyphotographyblog.com/neuschwanstein-castle-wedding-photo-shoot) After shooting in the snow-covered field down below Neuschwanstein castle and Schwangau, we drove to park near the ticket center and prepared to hike, yes hike up a mud-covered road 5 kilometers up hill. To say that Manuel & Madison are rockstars is an understatement!  Add to that being in a wedding dress (and snow boots!) and it was 20 degrees AND she was wearing a tiara AND it took about 40min. I was impressed.  Sometimes the hike up the hill is worth it and we just kept telling ourselves how EPIC it was going to be!  That and all the tourists were saying hello, looking sideways and genuinely curious to see a princess bride walking up to the castle! What we weren’t prepared for when we finally made it to the top was for the entire front of the castle to be COVERED IN SCAFFOLDING. What.!?!?!?!  Crap.  No...
Neuschwanstein Castle Wedding Photo Shoot

Neuschwanstein Castle Wedding Photo Shoot

Neuschwanstein Castle (German: Schloss Neuschwanstein, English: “New Swanstone Castle”[1]) is a nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner. Ludwig paid for the palace out of his personal fortune and by means of extensive borrowing, rather than Bavarian public funds. The palace was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive king, but it was opened to the paying public immediately after his death in 1886.[2] Since then more than 61 million people have visited Neuschwanstein Castle.[3] More than 1.3 million people visit annually, with as many as 6,000 per day in the summer.[4] The palace has appeared prominently in several movies such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Great Escape and serves as the inspiration for Disneyland‘s Sleeping Beauty Castle[5] and later, similar structures. Ok, now that we’re all caught up on how epically amazing Neuschwanstein is, let’s dive into some of the back story of this amazing photo shoot Part 1: I woke up early Saturday morning in Munich and after packing a few essentials – like 3 tiaras in my bag, grabbing a handmade bouquet (more on that later), my ski pants and my photography equipment I headed for the main train station in Munich and bought a day pass to ride the local Bavarian train.  I had a 1.5 hour ride with one station change to visit the town of Seeg, the hometown of our groom, Miguel!  Madison (a native of Nebraska), met me...
