Real Brides – Duchman Family Winery Wedding

Happy Wedding Season everyone!!  In honor of all the sweet brides I’m hearing from that are currently planning their 2016 weddings, I want to introduce you to Lindsey!  Lindsey and Jarrett were married a year ago at Duchman Family Winery in Driftwood, TX just outside of Austin.  I recently interviewed her to get some post-wedding thoughts on her planning process and favorite personal touches!  Check out her interview, her vendors and some of my favorite photos from their special day!   If you have any questions, please feel free to use the comment box or email: Jessica@JessicaFreyPhotography.com Have a wonderful week! 1) What is the best advice that was given to you when you started planning your wedding? Take a deep breath, soak it all in, and enjoy the ride! 2) What is one thing you think every bride should know that you learned while planning your wedding? This really will be the best day of your life. 3) What were your wedding colors and is there a story behind why you chose them? We wanted to make sure the wedding vibe was romantic and soft while tying in our outdoor ceremony to our indoor reception. Shades of blush pink and champagne were a natural fit for the girls and light grey suits seemed like the perfect complement for the guys! 4) What’s your favorite detail you chose for your wedding that representing your love story? It would have to be the many nods to our families, the ones that taught us how to love! We made sure to have wedding pictures from our parents and grandparents weddings decorating the...

Real Brides – Advice for New Brides!

1) What is the best advice that was given to you when you started planning your wedding? Do not settle for anything less than you want. . . 2) What is one thing you think every bride should know that you learned while planning your wedding? Don’t stress over trying to make everyone happy, it’s your wedding and you can only do so much. 3) What were your wedding colors and is there a story behind why you chose them? Blush, ivory, and gold. No story behind them, I just love the elegance of neutral colors but I wanted a little bit of color so I added the blush. . 4) What’s your favorite detail you chose for your wedding that representing your love story? The vintage Rolls Royce & the red carpet because our love story is straight out of a hollywood film (minus the divorce part, lol). 5) How long did you have to plan your wedding day? 11 months. We got engaged July 2012, but we didn’t set a date or start planning until January 2013 and we were married in November 2013. . 6) Did you hire a wedding planner/day of coordinator?  Was it worth the expense?  YES!!!! Best decision of my life. My family and bridal party didn’t have to worry about anything the day of besides enjoying the day. Shannon Hough Events is amazing and she took care of every last detail. . 7)  Is there anything you’d choose to do differently or have that you didn’t have? Yes, I wish I would’ve done a first look. Because with having a fall wedding...

Real Brides – Advice for New Brides!

1) What is the best advice that was given to you when you started planning your wedding?  Have Fun Planning it only happens once in a lifetime!   2) What is one thing you think every bride should know that you learned while planning your wedding?  Communicate and use any help that is offered, the more you can delegate the better.  (I have issues trusting people making things the way I want them so this was difficult for me but I had that 1 person that I knew I could trust and I knew would make the best decisions for me and it was PERFECT!)   3) What were your wedding colors and is there a story behind why you chose them? Blush, Gray and White.  No significance at all.  The hall was very busy with multiple colors, so we picked colors that would tone it down and make a romantic elegant setting.   4) What’s your favorite detail you chose for your wedding that representing your love story?  Baseball ring holder! We both LOVE the Los Angeles Dodgers and he has a history of playing baseball, so we had a friend cut a baseball in half and place the ring holder in to display our wedding bands.   5) How long did you have to plan your wedding day?  We planned our wedding in 9 months.  Got engaged February 2013 and were married November 2013. 6) Did you hire a wedding planner/day of coordinator?  Was it worth the expense? We did. We hired my best friend, definitely worth it being that I trusted she would make the best decisions...

Princess Bridal Inspired Photos at Knapps Castle Santa Barbara

I’ve had a lot of ‘photography visions’ lately and am so excited to share with you guys one that has been on my heart for about 4 years!  I visited the ‘ruins’ of Knapps Castle for an engagement shoot about 4 years ago and have always wanted to bring a bride up here for a ‘princess’ styled shoot.  So with the United conference happening this week in Santa Barbara, I did my best to make it happen!  I’m so thankful to Mary Rita of Sew Elegant Bridal Veils and Alterations for loaning me the beautiful veil and tiara from her store along with a vintage wedding skirt that I chose to pair with a flowy white silk shirt from my closet and a custom belt that Mary created!  I knew I wanted a soft chiffon feel and loved how the two pieces paired together beautifully! Thank you to Kristen Booth, a fellow fairy tale wedding photographer for modeling for me and to fellow CA photographer Shannon for being our helper.  I’m so grateful also to two amazing friends and fellow wedding photographers Jaime Williams and Elizabeth Langford for assisting me, helping me in any way they could and for being incredible reflector holders/veil tossers!  It’s incredible to have such beautiful friends in this industry that encourage and share their knowledge and I’m so thankful to you two ladies for this entire week 😉 SO……enjoy a look at the “princess” inspired bridal castle ruins shoot:     Wedding Photography for couples who believe that love is worth celebrating!   www.JessicaFreyPhotography.com   I Would Love For You to Leave a Facebook...
