Mother of the Bride dress – Mother of the Groom dress

Mother of the Bride dress – Mother of the Groom dress

Happy Mother’s Day!!  Thinking of my own mom (and planning my wedding 13 years ago) and hoping to provide some inspiration, I’ve pulled together a ton of REAL Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom dress photos!  The beautiful women below were all gorgeous and it was an honor to capture this special time in their lives as they celebrated their daughters and sons getting married! Here’s my quick advice (after 10 years of photographing weddings!) when looking for a Mother of the Bride or Mother of the Groom dress: Be comfortable!  Get your hair and makeup done! You’ll photograph better if you’re not worried about your dress/hair/makeup! Be yourself.  (but dress up a bit more than usual!! The two times my own mom has worn a dress is my wedding and my brother’s wedding!) Consult the bride to help determine the appropriate length/color scheme that fits with the formality of the wedding day and location! (Please stay away from white, off/white or anything that may detract from the bride!) It’s customary for the Mother of the Bride to choose her color/dress first, but tradition seem to be moving away from that.  If you’re in contact with each other, maybe make a day of it and go dress shopping together (or at least have a conversation)! Start shopping at least 6 months prior to the wedding to give you time for stress-free alterations or fittings.  Invest in alterations so this once in a lifetime dress fits you perfectly for photos that will last forever! “My mom wanted something that didn’t look like a traditional mother of the bride dress,...

Our favorite time of a wedding is getting ready to walk down the aisle. There is an sense of anticipation from everyone. But our favorite part about being asked to provide pieces for a wedding is knowing that in even a tiny way we became a part of someones best day of their life. What advice do you have for brides deciding on their vintage rental concept/design? Keeping it simple and true to your vision. Vintage/Boutique rentals are a way of topping off the overall design. Keep colors of furniture choices clean and add pops of color with pillows. Pull the colors for your design from your floral selection and keep to a three color maximum. By using vintage pieces in unique ways such as a trunk as a...

Wedding and Engagement Ring Photos

Wedding and Engagement Ring Photos

Some people get excited about College Football season (Gig’em Aggies!) or hunting season or a new season of So You Think You Can Dance (YES!!).  My fellow wedding vendor colleagues refer to this timeframe between Christmas and Valentine’s Day as Engagement season!  So many sweet couples get engaged over the holidays and I look forward every year to seeing which couples I’ll get to meet and be a part of their special day.  Since it’s the week of Christmas and it’s been an amazing year with last weekend being the last wedding of 2015 (Congrats Long & Tiffany!)  I’m taking off the next two weeks to celebrate with family and friends. With that in mind, I thought I’d create a blog post that could be useful for any of you ladies out there (or gentlemen) who are looking to see just what kind of engagement ring and wedding rings you’re looking for!  I know 12 years ago when I got engaged, the three stone ring was HUGE.  Now, gold is making a comeback as are pave settings and vintage settings!  I’ve gathered some of my favorite ring photos from the past 2 years to give you some help and inspiration! ** side note for my fellow photographers, all the detail photos are taken with my trusty Nikon 55mm manual focus film lens! Congratulations to anyone getting engaged!! If you or your friend is going to be planning a 2016 wedding, I would love to be recommended in the Austin area or you guys know I’m always up for traveling!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Love,   Jessica ——————...
Hawaii Wedding – Honolulu Waikiki Bride & Groom

Hawaii Wedding – Honolulu Waikiki Bride & Groom

Happy Anniversary to Shana & Chris!! I can’t believe over a year ago we were saying Aloha and celebrating their beautiful Honolulu Waikiki wedding day!  It was full of family, laughter and celebration and I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to capture it for them!  Shana and Chris are from Hawaii and planned their wedding day while living in California. After a year of marriage, I asked these two a few questions for future couples out there planning their wedding day, especially for destination weddings and this is their advice: 1) What is the best advice that was given to you when you started planning your wedding? Don’t wait to book your venue. We had our hearts set on our venue and ended up moving our date because the date we wanted was already taken.   2) What is one thing you think every bride and/or groom should know that you learned while planning your wedding? Get a planner, especially if you are having a destination wedding. Having our wedding in Hawaii and getting a planner early on really helped us to stay on track and make sure that all of the little details that we didn’t know about, our planner was able to make sure was taken care of. Our planner made a strict timeline that we stuck to, from sending invites to booking vendors, and it really made everything go smoothly. Also, having a team there on the day of to direct all of the vendors gave us the chance to really sit back and enjoy the day.   3) What were your wedding colors and...
