The Venue at Waterstone Dallas Wedding – Jerod & Kiersten

The Venue at Waterstone Dallas Wedding – Jerod & Kiersten

Kiersten & Jerod – you two are wonderful together and I am thankful to have been there for your wedding day to document and celebrate alongside so many of your wonderful family and friends!  Thank you for bringing me to the beautiful barn venue (Venue at Waterstone) in North Dallas – it was the perfect indoor ceremony site for a July wedding day in Texas!! Your joy and love for one another is so evident and I know these photos will be cherished for generations to come.   There were so many beautiful blue, navy and pink details, a fun ‘Father/Daughter” first look and the pre-ceremony prayer time that just took my breath away, not to mention the easiest 28 person wedding party I’ve ever had the honor of working with!! Enjoy a look at so many favorites from the first part of your wedding day….and Kiersten, you are one amazing wedding planner and bride!  You’ve spoiled me with your organization and trust!  (Also, it’s the hugest compliment ever when a fellow wedding vendor chooses you to photograph their wedding day, so thank you!! )  Congratulations! One of my new favorite ‘trends’ on a wedding day is doing a First Look with your dad (and brother!).  This was such a sweet and special moment for them to see Kiersten all dressed up in white ready to get married!  Absolutely in love with these peony and protea filled bouquets made by Baylor Floral!!!  Me to Kiersten:  You have so many gorgeous girlfriends! Kiersten to me:  Yes, but they’re all even more beautiful on the inside. Heart melting for this wonderful...

Camp Lucy – Ian’s Chapel Wedding Reception – Ryan & Courtney

Party!!!  Celebrating the new couple is always so much fun to be a part of and Ryan & Courtney’s Camp Lucy wedding reception was wonderful! With beautiful details and florals by Whim Hospitality, up-lighting and chandeliers by Altared Weddings and live music by The Pictures Band their guests couldn’t help but have an amazing time….then around 10pm, a brownie sundae bar was set up by Whim Catering before a fun sparkler exit outside of Ian’s Chapel!  There was so much planning and effort put into making this celebration gorgeous, but more importantly, seeing the couple, their families and friends have so much fun was the best part and why I love being a Camp Lucy wedding photographer! Mother of the Bride dress – Mother of the Groom dress

Mother of the Bride dress – Mother of the Groom dress

Happy Mother’s Day!!  Thinking of my own mom (and planning my wedding 13 years ago) and hoping to provide some inspiration, I’ve pulled together a ton of REAL Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom dress photos!  The beautiful women below were all gorgeous and it was an honor to capture this special time in their lives as they celebrated their daughters and sons getting married! Here’s my quick advice (after 10 years of photographing weddings!) when looking for a Mother of the Bride or Mother of the Groom dress: Be comfortable!  Get your hair and makeup done! You’ll photograph better if you’re not worried about your dress/hair/makeup! Be yourself.  (but dress up a bit more than usual!! The two times my own mom has worn a dress is my wedding and my brother’s wedding!) Consult the bride to help determine the appropriate length/color scheme that fits with the formality of the wedding day and location! (Please stay away from white, off/white or anything that may detract from the bride!) It’s customary for the Mother of the Bride to choose her color/dress first, but tradition seem to be moving away from that.  If you’re in contact with each other, maybe make a day of it and go dress shopping together (or at least have a conversation)! Start shopping at least 6 months prior to the wedding to give you time for stress-free alterations or fittings.  Invest in alterations so this once in a lifetime dress fits you perfectly for photos that will last forever! “My mom wanted something that didn’t look like a traditional mother of the bride dress,...

Our favorite time of a wedding is getting ready to walk down the aisle. There is an sense of anticipation from everyone. But our favorite part about being asked to provide pieces for a wedding is knowing that in even a tiny way we became a part of someones best day of their life. What advice do you have for brides deciding on their vintage rental concept/design? Keeping it simple and true to your vision. Vintage/Boutique rentals are a way of topping off the overall design. Keep colors of furniture choices clean and add pops of color with pillows. Pull the colors for your design from your floral selection and keep to a three color maximum.
