I’m so excited to share some images from my week in Italy on the most epic Mother/Daughter trip! I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to explore such a great culture with my mom, aunt and cousin – we’ve definitely got a ton of wonderful memories, and when you bring a professional photographer along on your trip, you get photos like these!! We started our trip by flying into Rome, then taking a train to Florence with a day trip to Cinque Terre, trains down to Sorrento, a boat to Capri and then a quick trip to Pompeii and Naples before heading home. Today’s blog is the first part – Rome, Vatican City and Florence!

Our first stop was the Vatican Museum to see the Sistine Chapel! It was a hot, 98 degrees, but we enjoyed getting to check that off my mom’s bucket list! For photos of St. Peter’s Bascilican/Pieta/Trevi Fountain/Pantheon/Spanish Steps check out my previous blog post at the top!
A quick look at some Instagram posts!!
On our first of two days in Florence, two wonderful things happened….the first is that one of my best friends who lives in Germany flew over to meet us! Anna and I have known each other since working at Disney World 15 years ago and we’ve managed to see each other all over the world since then! The second thing was I scheduled a surprise dinner on top of a hotel I’ve stayed in previously – La Scaletta!
We enjoyed an incredible view of Florence at sunset while enjoying some of the most delicious pasta, wine and cheese and it was definitely a dinner experience I’ll never forget! There are only 4 tables available and we quickly said hello to our other diners – a couple from Ireland on their honeymoon and another couple from England who happened to stumble upon the restaurant that day! I of course loved getting to photograph both sweet couples with such a great backdrop and enjoy getting to meet people from all over the world when I travel!
Sadly this is one of the only photos I have with my mama!!
Congratulations Paddy & Geri!!
Our group of ladies!! Love you all!
We rented an AirB&B apartment right next to the beautiful Duamo in Florence! It was incredible and the perfect location to walk and explore the city!
We enjoyed our patio with this amazing view….Anna’s pretty gorgeous too, huh?
Prosecco, accordion music down below, birds above and church bells ringing….it was so peaceful and a great place to catch up and relax!
On our last day, I got up just after sunset to walk Anna back to the train station (tear) and saw this gorgeous light over the Duamo! Swoon! Who wants to fly me back for a sunset wedding/anniversary/engagement photo shoot?! 😉
And of course, our trip wouldn’t be complete without being the famous David statue in the Academia Museum! Eric and I missed this on our first trip due to poor planning, but this time we had tickets reserved in advanced and got in quickly without waiting! So amazing!
And because it’s funny…no one ever show’s David’s backside!
Hope you enjoyed a quick look at Rome and Florence! Have you visited? What’s your favorite place/food/adventure?
Stay tuned for Part 2 next: Cinque Terre, Sorrento, Capri & Naples!
