This is my 6th styled wedding photography workshop to host and instruct at and dare I say, the most adventurous one yet? We started the morning with a tornado warning, hail and possibly flooding in the Texas Hill Country! In April! Ever the optimist and tracking my weather ap, it appeared that by noon on Sunday the weather would clear and it would be beautiful….and guess what…the weatherman was right! This amazingly talented and trusting group of local Austin wedding vendors came together at Garden Grove in South Austin and created the perfect vision for our “luxury Spanish villa’ themed wedding! Jessica Upton of Uptown Events designed an inspiration board full of color and little touches of lace and Spanish vibes that all came together seamlessly. I love that we get to spoil our attendees with so many details and situations to photograph and truly create a ‘wedding day’ worthy of publication!
My goal each year is to provide a professionally styled ‘wedding’ and teach through the important parts for photographers looking to get into wedding photography or enhance their knowledge and provide a safe & fun environment to practice their skills, try new lenses, work on posing and have fun! I’m blown away each year with the photographers willing to invest in their education and who come eager to learn – I’m so excited to get to be a part of their journey! I learned from some amazing photographers when I started out 10 years ago and feel blessed to get to pass along my knowledge and processes. If you’re interested in being a part of the next styled wedding workshop either in Austin, Tx or Central California, make sure to join my announcement newsletter here: http://eepurl.com/bPgmz1

Looking for inspiration for your groom?? How about a crushed burgundy velvet custom suit? The Ross Bennett Collection graciously lent our groom, Jack this beautiful piece that really made him stand out! It’s not ALWAYS about the bride, right? I can’t tell you how far a well-tailored suit goes for your man and how much better he’ll look in photos when it fits him just right. If you’re in the Austin area, make sure to contact and visit Ross Bennett – http://www.therossbennettcollection.com/
Investing in beautiful, hand designed, caligraphied stationary is the perfect way to provide a unique design for your wedding day. Peach Paper & Design owner Megan looked at our inspiration board and color choices and created the most gorgeous invitations and menu cards for our attendees to photograph and practice detail shots with! They help tell the story of the day and set the mood….I always ask my couples to mail me an invitation so I can use it to style their rings and details on their wedding day! Also…that Mrs Box….I mean, gorgeous!!
Here’s a quick sneak peek into one of the THREE practice runs of how to photograph a “First Look”! We spent 30 minutes going over position, lens choice, education and prepping your clients for the perfect First Look photos! Being out of the way, but helping guide the outside factors is key to this special moment!
Eden Luxe Bridal – owner Heather and I chatted about the style of the wedding and she expertly provided some beautifully unique and hand made designs that brought an amazing ‘flaire’ to Riley’s bridal style! If you’re looking for a special hair piece, veil, accessory or crown you’ve got to check out her shop: https://www.edenluxebridal.com
I’ll be sharing a few more in the next post, but how awesome is this “selfie station” type set up? A gorgeous area for guests and photos to be taken thanks to the collaboration of Oh Happy Day Booth, The Flower Girl Tx, and 10th Collection!
The floral design was executed with such perfection by The Flower Girl TX – Kari Shelton! Kari and her team did an incredible job of pulling together the theme and providing us with a fresh and bright color palette! Her shop is located just south of Dripping Springs, so make sure to contact her for your Hill Country weddings! http://www.theflowergirltx.com
