Lifestyle Head Shots in Austin – Maria

Lifestyle Head Shots in Austin – Maria

Meeting for iced vietnamese coffee and enjoying french macaroons while discussing gelato, prosecco and a mutual love for Disney sounds like the perfect afternoon in Austin, don’t you think? Top that off with a stroll through 2nd Street district and the Lamar Bridge for epic sunshine photos!  That’s exactly what I did last Friday when I met Maria for the first time to photograph her ‘lifestyle head shot’ photo shoot.  It’s officially my new favorite portrait session that developed after emailing with Maria about they type of photos she was looking for.  She found me via social media and I’ll let her speak to her ‘why’ for wanting these photos.  I hope these showcase the joy that radiates from her and I’m so grateful to have a fellow Cinderella & “all things Italy” fan here in Austin!  Bella Maria! Caio! 1) What was your motivation behind wanting lifestyle head shots? I wanted to have a special memory some of my favorite things to do and places to be in Austin, to share with my friends and family. I wanted to capture this beautiful moment that I’m living, and have fun! As they say in Italy, perchè no?  2) How did you decide on locations/backdrops/outfits you wanted? For the locations, I knew I wanted something like a cute café or restaurant and the view of downtown, which made me fall in love with Austin when I first moved here.  I shared this with Jessica and she proposed some locations, and after some conversation we decided on Elizabeth Street Café, Dolce Neve, 2nd Street and the Lamar bridge. Elizabeth Street Café is such a cute place,...
Adventures in Bavaria – Munich

Adventures in Bavaria – Munich

Three years ago when my hubby and I did our Trip Around the World, we were given 5 stops on our RTW flight options.  With one of my best friends living in Munich, Germany, we decided to use one of them to fly from Houston, Tx to Munich (The other 4 being San Juan, Costa Rica; Phuket, Thailand; Auckland, New Zealand and back to Los Angeles)  We then explored Europe for 5 weeks and made it back to Munich before flying off to Thailand!  During our last trip to visit we did a few touristy things like visit Neuschwanstein (the inspiration for Cinderella’s Castle) and drive to Austria to see the Swarovski Museum, and even shot an engagement session in Marienplatz Munich (which you can see here: Jacob & Kelsey), so this most recent trip it was a bit more low key and relaxing. (To view that trip, visit this blog: RTW-Germany). This trip to Munich, it rained 3 out of the 4 days I was there, so I hiked through the woods in the rain wearing Hunter boots, got to walk their precious pup Denny, made it to a few local beirgartens and the icing on the cake??? Wear a traditional Bavarian dress, a Dirndl!  I borrowed one of Anna’s dresses and we headed out on the UBahn to go downtown to grab a bite to eat and a lemonade beer (forgot what it’s called, but it’s delicious!).  I felt a bit odd mixed with people heading home from work and it wasn’t Octoberfest, but I was assured it’s totally normal.  Riiiight?!   Anyway, it was so much fun and...
Ireland Adventures – Galway & Cliffs of Moher

Ireland Adventures – Galway & Cliffs of Moher

Travel is my love language…along with tacos, but that’s for another day.  I am so thankful to have the time and flexibility (yea for the best husband and grandparents ever) to travel to Ireland with one of my closest friends, Anna!  We had 4 days and 5 nights to explore one of my all-time favorite countries: Ireland!  Since we’ve both been before and had already done certain areas we found that neither of us had made it to the west coast and planned to head straight for Galway after landing in Dublin.  We took a bus (for 10 euro!!) from the Dublin bus station (yea for Bus Eireann….and for anyone wanting to do the same, make sure to take the EXPRESS bus to Galway and not the local. We know from experience, trust me you don’t want 4.5 hours of roundabouts in a bus.) and arrived during a festival celebrating Galway and their excitement over being the designated the European Capital of Culture 2020.   After 3 days, I can see why they were chosen and have fallen in love with Galway!  In another lifetime, I would move there right away, set up shop and become besties with our Airbnb host who just happened to be a dancer IN RIVERDANCE.  That’s right, I tried so hard not to fangirl when we met her and for those who know me, know it was hard not to ask to try on her shoes and perform my ‘routine’.  Seriously though, Riverdance.  She’s living my other dream life 🙂  Gillian, if you’re somehow finding this and you & sweet Michael get married in the near...

Texas Hill Country Engagement Photos – Brian & Jill

Cheers to Brian & Jill!  What a wonderful evening meeting these two and getting to document their engagement at one of their favorite Austin locations, the awesome Jester King Brewery just west of town on the way to Dripping Springs!  I’ve been a few times and love the atmosphere of hanging out, enjoying craft beer and amazing pizza from Stanley’s Farmhouse Pizza (The Sparky is my favorite…prosciutto, caramelized onions and truffle oil…yum!).  The humidity and heat of a July evening didn’t bother this Louisiana and Florida native as we wandered the grounds, toasted to their wedding day and enjoyed the sunset that only the Texas Hill Country can produce! Thank you Brian & Jill for a fun evening, I enjoyed getting to hear your love story and wish you all the best on your adventures together!  Congratulations!!!   xoxo, Jessica We met up on a Friday night new-brew release night and it was packed! And then we had a gorgeous Hill Country sunset!! Love that light! Capra & Cavelli – Austin Wedding Vendor

Capra & Cavelli – Austin Wedding Vendor

Welcome to another Austin wedding vendor highlight! I’m so excited to share some great advice to groom’s getting married or really any man looking for a great suit/tuxedo.  I had the pleasure of meeting Buddy Estrella at Capra & Cavelli and enjoyed working with him in April to create an Italian look for our Tuscany in Texas wedding theme.  It was a great experience and he took my vision and created a perfectly tailored, modern look for our two models.   I know from a photographer’s perspective, nothing looks better on a groom than a perfectly tailored suit or tuxedo…it really makes a difference and just as the bride gets her ‘once in a lifetime’ dress, I think the men need the same treatment! As a top wedding clothier in Texas, I asked Buddy for his expert opinion and advice for grooms (or their brides searching online for what their man should wear!).  Check out his answers below and if you’re in the Austin area or visiting, go see him at Capra & Cavelli for all your menswear needs and tell him I said Hello!
