Neuschwanstein Castle Wedding Photo Shoot

Neuschwanstein Castle Wedding Photo Shoot

Neuschwanstein Castle (German: Schloss Neuschwanstein, English: “New Swanstone Castle”[1]) is a nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner. Ludwig paid for the palace out of his personal fortune and by means of extensive borrowing, rather than Bavarian public funds. The palace was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive king, but it was opened to the paying public immediately after his death in 1886.[2] Since then more than 61 million people have visited Neuschwanstein Castle.[3] More than 1.3 million people visit annually, with as many as 6,000 per day in the summer.[4] The palace has appeared prominently in several movies such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Great Escape and serves as the inspiration for Disneyland‘s Sleeping Beauty Castle[5] and later, similar structures. Ok, now that we’re all caught up on how epically amazing Neuschwanstein is, let’s dive into some of the back story of this amazing photo shoot Part 1: I woke up early Saturday morning in Munich and after packing a few essentials – like 3 tiaras in my bag, grabbing a handmade bouquet (more on that later), my ski pants and my photography equipment I headed for the main train station in Munich and bought a day pass to ride the local Bavarian train.  I had a 1.5 hour ride with one station change to visit the town of Seeg, the hometown of our groom, Miguel!  Madison (a native of Nebraska), met me...

Windsor Castle – 5 hours in London

Windsor Castle – 5 hours in London

It’s never fun getting a notice from your airlines hours before you’re supposed to board an international flight that they’ve decided to cancel the second leg of your trip.  So….huge thanks to British Airways for doing just that on my journey through London to Munich, Germany.  How to make lemonade out of lemons?? Google “I’m stuck at Heathrow Airport for 7 hours, what do I do???”  Turns out, this is pretty common and I found a lot of advice – one that struck me was going 20miles out and visiting Windsor Castle!  If you’ve been glued to The Queen (on Netflix) like I have, this is a must and something we didn’t do on our last journey through London (during our Around the World trip).  We made it to nearby Egham and Royal Halloway College for Calyx & Jacob’s engagement session, and I was excited when we went back through to remember how much fun we had!  (want to see that amazing session? Click here: http://jessicafreyphotographyblog.com/engagement-photos-in-london-england-jacob-and-calyx) First stop – join the rest of the tourists in Windsor for some Fish & Chips.  Drown your fish in vinegar and boomerang it!  Next, chat up all the friendly castle workers and meet a local dog (and his owner) who apparently gets to play with the Queen’s corgis when she’s home.  Next, adventure through the State Apartments and marvel at all the pretty things and history that’s gone down.  I also got to visit St. George’s Chapel that was currently going through a ‘deep clean’ to prep for an event the Queen was holding soon. *side note, pretty sure they filmed the Queen’s...

McKinney Falls Austin Engagement Session – Jerod & Kiersten

McKinney Falls Austin Engagement Session – Jerod & Kiersten

Joy is infectious and the happiness and smiles that radiated from Kiersten during our McKinney Falls State Park engagement session made my heart happy! I’ve been looking forward to meeting her fiancee, Jerod and was grateful these two drove down from Dallas to Austin and braved the foggy “winter” chill.  I’m so excited for their Dallas wedding this summer and feel so honored when another wedding vendor (Kiersten works for Altar Ego Wedding planning!!) trusts me to capture their special day!  Here’s some of my favorites from these two Bruno Mars-loving, basketball-playing, Baylor alums!  Enjoy!! Congratulations!! Cannot wait for your Dallas summer wedding this year!!!!  xoxoxoxo – Jessica Now Booking 2017 weddings!
