As the seasons change so do the trends in wedding fashion. The overall look for both bridesmaid dresses and wedding gowns for Spring 2013 will be soft, subtle and romantic. Wedding Dress Colors
In Spring 2013, colors from sapphire to red to blush were wedding gown color choices that were highlighted at fashion runway shows. Celebrity after celebrity continue to choose blush, including Reese Witherspoon and Gwen Stefani, and most recently, Jessica Biel, as their wedding dress color of choice. Colored gowns are becoming so popular because so many brides find that color enhances their skin tone, where white will often wash out a paler bride. Also brides want to show their personalities and stand out in the sea of white.
Every year Pantone, the renowned authority on color, puts out a Spring Fashion Color Report that is based on designers use of certain colors in their collections. You can expect this season’s colors to be some of the hottest color choices for bridesmaid dresses, as well as general wedding color themes in spring 2013. Pastels are always great choices because they will enhance most skin tones and compliment all wedding themes, from casual to formal. The most popular color will likely be the recently announced Color of the Year, Emerald.
Bridesmaid dress styles will be trendy and feature lace, illusion necklines, peplum skirts and one shoulder detailing. Expect to see a lot of the styles of wedding dresses mirrored in bridesmaid looks.
The biggest trend this spring will be wedding dresses with lace detail. Lace sleeves, backs and necklines are popular embellishment details many brides will look for when selecting their gown. Whether it is embroidered lace, a lace overlay, or lace appliques, you will surely see many dresses featuring the feminine fabric. Choosing lace detailing on your wedding dress, such as an illusion neckline and sleeves like Princess Kate Middleton chose, is a great way for the modest bride to tastefully show a little skin.
All angles of the bride will be emphasized on her special day. Designers are making sure that the back detailing of the dress is as beautiful as the front. Instead a traditional simple back, the hottest trend for Spring 2013 is to show a modest touch of skin, such as a gown with a keyhole opening that is enhanced with a lace paneled back. Other styles include This wedding dress detail will make the bride equally stunning both entering and exiting a room.
Wedding gowns with a peplum skirt will also be popular this spring. Peplum style skirts begin at the waist and can fall mid-length or cover the full length of the dress. They emphasize the waist and cover the hips, while beautifully sculpting a bride’s bodice. Whether you want a more non-traditional wedding dress, such as this champagne style from the White by Vera Wang collection at David’s Bridal, or a more customary white dress, peplums are a beautiful style for those brides with a flair for the dramatic.
When selecting your wedding dress, consider these dress style trends. Walking down the aisle with a dress accentuated with these dress details will make you the most fashion-forward bride in Spring 2013!
