South by Southwest (SXSW) keeps getting bigger and bigger each year and I’m excited to not only be back in my hometown of Austin, but to have some opportunities to photograph a few things going on around town! If you follow me on social media, you saw some of these fun moments, but I thought I’d blog about it too just in case (and so I can look back years from now and say wow that was fun!) I got to preview the first two episodes of both The Son (AMC) and Nobodies (TV Land) and can’t wait to set my DVR and enjoy the rest of the seasons – both are so well acted, written and something I think both Eric and I can watch together!
Number 1: I photo bombed James Bond. That’s right, a random new friend took a photo on her phone of me hanging out behind Pierce Brosnan while he chatted with author and producer Philipp Meyer.
Based on Philipp Meyer’s acclaimed novel, the multigenerational epic will follow two concurrent time periods: One, the story of young Eli McCullough after he is kidnapped and indoctrinated into a tribe of Comanches in 1849. The other, 60 years later, when we see a grown Eli struggle to maintain his family’s cattle empire during the turbulent Bandit Wars of South Texas.
Actor Pierce Brosnan will play the role of Eli, the charismatic patriarch of the McCullough family who applies the brutal Comanche worldview to his business dealings. Born on the day Texas became an independent Republic, “The First Son of Texas” is a relic of the Wild West, uneasy with the inexorable taming of Texas and the uncertain future of his legacy.
The Son is set to premiere on Saturday, April 8 at 9/8c.
Number 2: I said hello to Melissa McCarthy & took a selfie with her husband and fellow actor/producer Ben Falcone on the way in to their world premier of the new TV Land show Nobodies
Hugh, Larry and Rachel are three actor/comedians still waiting for their big break, struggling to make a name for themselves in Hollywood while their friends achieve fame and fortune. They’re the Nobodies.
—in true to life form, I approached 3 people outside the Zach Theatre to ask if they needed help and turns out, they were Larry, Huge and Rachel. Go figure! Sorry guys!!
(Here’s Michael McDonald who you may recognize from MadTV…Stewart??!!)
