As a Bakersfield wedding photographer, I’ve had the honor of working on the Bakersfield Californian’s Vows Wedding magazine for two years now. With the help of some amazing local vendors, I came up with the idea to present 2 wedding day ideas to local brides. After brainstorming, we were able to create 2 looks that I think local brides would be interested in seeing. I started with wanting a more traditional look and then move to a more modern, contemporary wedding day look. I met with Jenny over at the Little White Dress to pick out a few options that would showcase to today’s bride a few ideas and as any girl would be, completely loved going to a wedding dress boutique and having Kalli try on 10 dresses for me to help decide our 2 looks! Then, I went to see Jerry who owns Fino’s Menswear and Tuxedos and he took my color ideas and ran with it. He worked with Ryan to get 3 suits to fit perfectly and showcase who he was as a ‘groom’. My third stop was to see Amanda who owns House of Flowers and explain to her our color scheme (light pink, silver, and a pop of tourquoise) and after working with her for 2 years now, I knew she’d come up with an amazing wedding bouquet that was modern, unique and gorgeous! Add some balloons for a fun twist, beautiful accessories from Little White Dress and we’ve got a photo shoot!
Putting everything together and creating the two looks on site was so much fun! I know every bride who is currently engaged is looking to many resources to plan her wedding day, and I hope this photo shoot and the Vows magazine can help inspire someone and showcase the amazing wedding vendors we have here in Bakersfield! Every bride deserves the best and with a little planning and a lot of imagination, your wedding day can be unique, beautiful and fun!
As aside note, Kalli and Ryan were fabulous to work with and when I met her at her hair and makeup session with Keasha from Glitz Salon I noticed a beautiful sparkly engagement ring on her finger! Ryan proposed 2 days prior to our photo shoot and I couldn’t be more excite for them! Ryan even joked that he had thought of getting a minister to our photo shoot since they were already glammed up for their ‘big day’! Here are my favorites from the photo shoot, many that did not make it into the magazine since it was just the “Traditional” look they wanted to showcase…..Happy Planning local brides! A huge thank you and congrats to Ryan and Kalli for modeling and another big thank you to my assistant Rachel for all of your help!
