Eleven years of being a destination wedding photographer and I still just LOVE my job. I’m so thankful Ray and Sophie invited me to photograph their Cancun wedding last month and I enjoyed getting to know their wedding party and guests leading up to the big day while we enjoyed the sunshine and a few pina coladas. Those that have followed this blog know that I absolutely LOVE to travel! When I get to do what I love (photographing wonderful people) while traveling, my creative heart is just as happy as can be! This wedding was one for the books and I’m grateful for the kindness and thoughfulness of sweet Sophie and Ray – they took such great care of us and I’m so excited to share a huge blog post with some of my favorites from their wonderful day at the Royalton Riviera Cancun resort! If you’re looking for a destination beach wedding, but don’t really want your ceremony on the beach, this was a gorgeous and unique option!
In Mexico, there are mostly beach-front options for wedding ceremonies, but that wasn’t the case for the resort Ray and Sophie decided on. The Royalton Riviera Cancun has this unique Ocean View Gazebo “nest” ceremony space that is super cool!
As a surprise to Ray, his daughters met his bride to be halfway down the aisle. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd! Even Ray was touched by the gesture and we were all wiping away tears.
They’re officially married!!
Guests were invited to the Royalton Riviera Sky Terrace rooftop space to enjoy dinner while the sun was setting. It was a wonderful view and the perfect space to watch a gorgeous cotton-candy colored sunset!
These two had a CRAZY FUN party!!
It was fun working with Houston-based DJ Lewis Grell from LG Entertainment
And when your bride LOVES to gamble and there’s a casino in the hotel, you start the after-party rolling dice!
BONUS:
One of my favorite things about destination weddings is to have a portrait session two days after the wedding! It allows more time for portraits in the gorgeous location you’ve picked, without cutting into party time with your friends and family. Here’s a quick peek at some of the images from Ray and Sophie’s portrait session after the wedding day.
Congratulations, Ray and Sophie!!
