Hello Freyday!!! Earlier this week at dinner, my husband asked me to close my eyes and envision the word HAPPY. He asked me what I saw. I instantly knew what would come to my mind. He then asked if it was in color or black and white. I said color. He asked if I could hear music or if it was silent. I heard music and laughter. He then asked if I was thinking of a memory or a location that I had been. I said yes. He continued to explain to me that as humans we remember experiences, smells, colors and then attach those feelings and memories to specific words. The word Happy for me invoked the feeling I get whenever I’m standing in front of Cinderella’s castle at Walt Disney World. It’s very specific for me. I have so many memories while working there and when I go back to visit the feeling of my heart expanding and soaking in the joy I feel when I see the twinkling lights, the joy in the laughter that I’m surrounded by, and the clean beautiful world that stands in front of me makes me happy. For you it could be memories of your children, of a location you traveled to with someone, of your home when it’s clean or wonderfully lived in. It could be your wedding day. For my brides, I hope that it is! I hope and pray that my photography and the images you have afterwards evoke the feeling and lights, smells and memories of your special day! Photography can be so rewarding in that aspect of solidifying a day of memories in photographs.
Today I’m giving away my very first ever item to my blog readers!! I’ve got some good stuff planned for a giveaway once a month for photographers, clients, and all of my blog followers so please continue to visit every Freyday! Today I would love to give away one of the amazing bags that I helped hand out at WPPI this and last year for Shootsac bags! I use mine this bag at every photo shoot to carry all my extra gear, it’s lightweight and really handy. It also zips down into a very small portible/packable bag and is great for traveling. I’ll randomly choose a winner and announce who it is on Monday’s blog post!
And now to our show….enjoy!
For my photographer friends, all of these were shot on my Nikon D700 Hand held at ISO 2500 F/2.8 and shutter speeds varying from 80-250…very minimal post processing.
And now, the fireworks the next night from the Contemporary Hotel…what a fun view!!

Awww… I love these photos! Happy without a doubt for me is C. Every morning he wakes up w/ THE BIGGEST smile on his face greatly exclaiming “Mommy, Connor has woken up” (and while having to gather my energy at 530 or 6 can be a bit tricky, it always makes me laugh that he is so excited!) … every morning! Even if he had a rough night! 🙂
When I close my eyes and picture pure Happiness what I see and feel is 100% peace. We get all twisted throughout our lives to honestly have total peace. When I open my eyes, both of my amazing men are on each side of me…My son to my Right and My husband to my left. Just the three of us at total peace…No noise…Also the smell of honeysuckle and lots of beautiful natural colors of the world…Blue skies, bright flowers, bright green grass and clear waters…and just the innocent smile of my son! Even though he is now 14yrs old…His innocense is my happiness!
happy is my wife … who would also be happy to have this bag! PICK ME LOL hahaha
My “happy” changes. It used to be that I would close my eyes and remember when I found out I was pregnant with my first son. I was beyond happy! Unfortunately, we lost him during pregnancy. Now, when I think happy and close my eyes I see my 2 living sons and how much they love each other, even at such young ages. I see them laughing and rolling around on the floor together. I hear my 3 year old singing songs to his 7 month old brother. I’m so happy thinking these moments that it brings tears to my eyes.
Fun post!
When I close my eyes and think of happy, I think of a perfect spring day with fresh flowers, a blue sky, beautiful light and a picnic with my guy. Happy is slowing down to enjoy each and every moment of life.
When I close my eyes and think of HAPPY, I picture myself coming home from being out of town and having my dog go absolutely crazy to see me and having my 2 boys run up to me, jump into my arms and hug me as much as they can because they missed me while I was gone. PURE JOY!
Happiness to me is having the people I love. Happiness to me is waking up with my husband right next to me knowing he will be there everyday by my side.Happiness to me is seeing the weak become stronger. Happiness is seeing peace is childrens lives. Happiness to me is rocking out to your favorite song in your car. Happiness to me is eating junk food. Happiness to me is knowing God will provide no matter what. I LOVE HAPPINESS & would love a FREE bag 🙂 I can close my eyes and picture all of this.
“Happy” makes me think of three things…is that posible? 🙂 #1 – that GOD’s love is amazing, #2 -my wonderful husband that brings joy and love to my life, and #3 me on horseback, on a beautiful spring day, completely at peace…it doesn’t get better than that! 🙂
HAPPY for me is being able to wake up every morning and see my love’s face as the sunrises. At that moment I realize that God has giving me another day of life and He has also given me another day with my lovely husband. My heart feels as if it is going to over-spill with joy. My face shows my happiness as I display a big smile to my husband.
Happy for me is being a stay at home mom with my two boys…I feel so blessed to have his opportunity to be there for every second of their childhood. I couldn’t imagine having any other job:) I also get to capture all those little moments that pass by so quickily since I do photography. My two sons Parker and Holden have taught me a lot..they inspire me to keep doing photography with their beautiful little souls! love the disneyland pics! we’re taking Parker for his (3rd birthday) in April and I cannot wait!
Those firework photos are stunning! Love your interactive blog posts. 🙂 Happy- my mind always goes to the top of Primrose Hill. I would jog there every morning when I lived in London, and it was one of the most special experiences of my life.
The word for me reminds me of family, my nephews in particular. With the oldest now being ten they are my tiny little saving graces! I remember having bad days and their little kisses and hugs would just melt away everything! In so many ways they have saved me and they dont even know it. Their unconditional love was the best thing to have happened to me.
Wonderful pictures! Thanks for sharing a little Disney happiness:) We have never been to Walt Disney World, but we frequent Disneyland. These pictures remind me of the fun we have there. It’s like being in your own world with just your family even though there are many people around. The fun we have there together makes me very happy! So many wonderful memories that I will cherish forever! The word happy makes me think of my husband and two daughters and of all the wonderful things we do together as a family. The laughter of having fun together and the excitement of our family trips whether it be a trip to Disneyland, a camping trip to the beach or just cozying up on the couch for a family movie night. Thanks for envoking us all to think of what makes us happy! It feels nice to stop and think of what makes me happy=)
Jessica..although I love the pics of Disney…I extra LOVE the pics of the shootsacs. I also look forward to Freyday…..TGIFreyday! 🙂

When I close my eyes I can feel the sand between my toes, the sound of waves crashing to the shore and that smell…the smell of the ocean. Twelve years till I can retire and become a beach bum. I like to dream big lol.
I am laying on a beach reading a book! That is what I think of happy…
So cool! The only time I visited Disney World was in August …. yick… too hot. But I do live near Disneyland and my experiences there are always enjoyable!!
When I close my eyes and think of the word “happy” I see my two baby girls smiling at me. It gives me almost that butterfly feeling how beautiful and precious they are. I’m actually tearing up now thinking about it… HAPPY tears! happy tears 🙂
those are simply wonderful. make me want to be a kid again:)
Well after looking at those great photos all I can picture is my son grinning from ear to ear pulling my sleeve saying” mommy, mommy, look its mickey mouse, its really mickey mouse.” Disney is truly the happiest place on earth… but seeing my puppy roll around in the grass wagging his tail ain’t so bad either. That always brings smile to my face after a long day at work. Dogs are always full of joy.
Jessica you inspire me to be a better photographer…
Your pictures are always amazing !!!
When I close my eyes what I see that makes me happy is my family. Spending time together, going places and capturing all of it in photos : )
Thanks
Awesome Disneyland pics!
These pictures are just beautiful! Disneyland is My “Happiest Place on Earth.” You were the photographer in my Best Friend, Brittany Ponce Raineys wedding this summer. Since then, I have loved following your blog and photshoots from Facebook! Cant wait to see more wonderful work from you!
Snuggling with my children or a quiet conversation with my husband.
Gorgeous photos. We will be visiting Cinderella’s castle next month and staying with my husband’s grandparents….fun!
when I close my eyes and think “happy”… I think of… (closing eyes)… riding my horse, at a lope, in an open forrest preserve. She is only two, not started and was seriously injured when she was little but has fully recovered. I am going to cry when that day comes.
The word HAPPY brings ‘smiles’ to mind. No single person, place or thing… just a smile. To me it is a symbol of being happy. It’s contagious and probably one of the most simple things a person can do in a day. Seeing someone else smile almost always makes me smile 🙂
Happy, when I close my eyes, is knowing that my house is full of love and warmth.
WOW Thank you for my new desktop background!!! XOXO
