I never thought I’d get a chance to visit Disneyland in Europe….so when we started planning our Around the World trip and knew we’d head to Paris, I looked on a map and found out that Disneyland Paris (Formerly Euro Disney) was located just 30min. outside of the city!! SO yeah….that may have been the first thing on our plate when we made it to France and I couldn’t have been more excited to see the differences and experience the ‘magic’ in another language! Check out some of my photos from the day – I figured I’d love to give you guys a semi virtual tour for any of you not planning to make your way out there 🙂
Things to share/differences we noticed:
1) The biggest one – I thought the castle there in FRANCE would be Belle’s from Beauty & the Beast! The castle is called Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant – which apparently means Sleeping Beauty in French! It’s absolutely beautiful though and I think a much better representation than the one located in Anaheim – plus, there’s a dragon down below it (Maleficent!) and a beautiful stain glass walk through on the second floor!
2) Space – there’s much more room in the rural town outside of Paris for everything to be a bit wider/bigger/spread out.
3) Tomorrow Land is called Discoveryland and boasts Space Mountain 2. Which apparently takes our Space Mountain up a notch and adds a cannon like retrofuturistic instead of futuristic dark roller coaster with loops and pigtails! Much more intense and to those who like roller coasters…awesome!
4) Haunted Mansion…aka Phantom Manor – they took the scary level up a few notches here and it’s not kitchy anymore! The ride is the same concept, but the decor and props are much more realistic and creepy!!! Also, Indiana Jones is a roller coaster ride!
5) The language! It was awesome to see the names of the rides in French, but since we didn’t speak french, it was great that we already knew what they were or like in the case of Phantom Manor, we knew what was happening in the beginning elevator or what Buzz Lightyear was saying.
Name that ride: Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains
Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril
La Cabane des Robinson
Le Carrousel de Lancelot
Le Petit Train du Cirque
Le Pays de Contes de Fées
Guess who we saw!!! She’s still ‘original’ costume Cinderella, yea!!!
I was absolutely blown away by the evening firework/light/display show ON the castle – it was incredible and so well done!
