Happy Wedding Season everyone!! In honor of all the sweet brides I’m hearing from that are currently planning their 2016 weddings, I want to introduce you to Lindsey! Lindsey and Jarrett were married a year ago at Duchman Family Winery in Driftwood, TX just outside of Austin. I recently interviewed her to get some post-wedding thoughts on her planning process and favorite personal touches! Check out her interview, her vendors and some of my favorite photos from their special day! If you have any questions, please feel free to use the comment box or email: Jessica@JessicaFreyPhotography.com
Have a wonderful week!
1) What is the best advice that was given to you when you started planning your wedding?
Take a deep breath, soak it all in, and enjoy the ride!
2) What is one thing you think every bride should know that you learned while planning your wedding?
This really will be the best day of your life.
3) What were your wedding colors and is there a story behind why you chose them?
We wanted to make sure the wedding vibe was romantic and soft while tying in our outdoor ceremony to our indoor reception. Shades of blush pink and champagne were a natural fit for the girls and light grey suits seemed like the perfect complement for the guys!
4) What’s your favorite detail you chose for your wedding that representing your love story?
It would have to be the many nods to our families, the ones that taught us how to love! We made sure to have wedding pictures from our parents and grandparents weddings decorating the cake table. Near the pictures sat a coconut cake to match the one my grandparents picked up at a cake walk to eat at their wedding. We incorporated cotton bowls into our floral arrangements to celebrate Jarrett’s dad, a cotton farmer and fabulous father. I wore a soft and sparkly garter and carried a vintage lace handbag made with love from my amazing mother-in-law. My bouquet was adorned with a cameo that my grandmother gave to her soon to be daughter-in-law (my mother) on the day my parents were wed. My aunt shared her amazing voice by singing two of our favorite songs at the ceremony and reception. Finally, my grandmother (maternal side) and grandfather (paternal side), 2 retired preachers, were the ones to wed Jarrett and I. It truly was a celebration of love!
5) How long did you have to plan your wedding day?
11 months, but let’s be honest… I started planning as a child!!!
6) Is there anything you’d choose to do differently or have that you didn’t have?
The only thing I might have done differently is to have had a post-reception party planned. We didn’t want the night to ever end!
7) How was Jarrett involved and was there something specific he wanted for your wedding day?
I made sure to include Jarrett in every decision regarding the wedding (excluding the dress, of course)! I wanted to ensure it was the perfect representation of us as a couple, so I wanted his input in everything from cake and flowers to table numbers and suits!
8) What vendors were your top priority?
Food, cake, and alcohol!!! Jarrett and I are both total foodies so this was for sure top priority for us! We wanted to make sure every guest had a blast and that our food and drinks really stood out in a positive way.
9) How did you choose your location?
When Jarrett and I started dating, I was living in Austin and he was in California. During his first trip down to visit me, I took him to Duchman Winery where we spent the entire afternoon enjoying wine, learning more and more about one another, and essentially, falling in love! We felt this was the perfect spot to celebrate our love for each other.
10) Any other advice for brides/grooms planning their 2016 weddings?
Always keep in mind what this day is all about: celebrating the everlasting love you found in your soon to be spouse! As long as you keep that as the focus, everything else will fall into place.
