Wedding wednesday is on hold….today, I have some LUMBERJACKS for you! During our port stop in Ketchikan, Alaska my family went to The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show – a show put on by men who are professional ‘lumberjacks’. I know there’s a sport of ‘lumberjacking’ on a guy channel but I can’t remember what it’s called…anyone know what I’m talking about?! They compete in different sawing, ax throwing, tree climbing, log rolling events and it was quite entertaining. Aparently this location is a great practice area for the up and coming competitors to work on their skills and impress us tourists with their sharp blades and fast chopping….plus, I’m a fan of lumberjack humor and their jokes were highly entertained & right up my ally. Rated on the travel channel as one of the top 10 things to do in Alaska, I guess we can check it off our list!
Eric and I made sure to wear our flannel and he’d been growing out his lumberjack beard for 5 days so as to compete with them….and then realized that he was bigger than them and the expected beards weren’t there! One of the guys literally said ” Oh man, he’s bigger than us, eh? ” Go figure 🙂 It was a ton of fun though…here’s a look at the events they competed in, so enjoy and have a great day!! – Jessica
