Stephanie and I have worked numerous weddings together over the past 4 years and I was always excited to run into her setting up her cakes while I was busy hustling to get all the details done. She was always so sweet with a big hug and I can honestly say I’m so thankful for her professional relationship and friendship we’ve develop. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that her cakes and cupcakes and treats are all simply amazing. I love a good cupcake – but I die over hers (don’t get me started on the butterfinger one, it’s all mine!) I typically don’t eat cake, but when I know it’s a GSS cake at a wedding I make sure to see if there’s any left over for me since I know it’ll be amazing! So, brides – trust me when I say you’re in good hands with Stephanie, she’s an artist and a wonderfully sweet business woman whom I just adore!
So in order to get to know the woman behind the cakes, here is a quick little interview I did – enjoy!!
My Starbucks order is: Triple Grande, Soy, No Whip Mocha in the winter, Grande, Soy, No Whip, 4 Pump Coffee, Caramel Frapp in the summer 😉
My favorite thing about weddings: Seeing the cake and how it represents the event and the bride in her dress. Those two things say a lot about the entire event. I love to see a wedding that can have a bunch of elements that otherwise wouldn’t go together, and because the bride paid attention to her details, it all works. I also love a wedding where everything wasn’t purchased from stores like Michaels. DIY weddings are amazing as long as they aren’t using silk flowers or sloppy hot glue 😉
I am known for: Sculpted, 3D cakes and trendy fashion cakes.
People are always surprised to learn that: I’m a vegetarian.
The most fun I’ve had at a wedding is when: My favorite weddings have been those of my sisters. Having 5 sisters has given me the opportunity to be involved in planning events that are so different from each other, kind of like us!! What makes the reception for me is having a great DJ that gets the crowd.
(Stephanie’s sister Gina – who’s wedding I photographed & she created that beautiful 5 tiered cake for!)
Most creative thing I’ve been asked to do for a wedding: Sculpt a cake topper that looks like the groom in a canoe and the bride in the water next to her canoe, because she always falls out 😉
(OR….The below sculpted Cinderella cake I commissioned for my 29th birthday!! – Jessica)
My dream vacation spot is: Bora Bora, Those huts over the water!!! Someday!!
My celebrity crush is: Charlize Theron
My favorite color is: Dark Purple
My favorite dish to cook is: Stuffed Bell Peppers or Roasted Portobello Panini’s
I love my business because: I get to be an artist and play with food every day! I also love it because I am making priceless memories for people.
Favorite wedding trend I want to see in 2012: Vintage inspired weddings are huge right now and we LOVE the look and feel of them. Clean and simple decorations, it’s almost like drawing the attention back to what’s really important………the couple.
Least favorite wedding trend that I think should go away in 2012: Cupcakes instead of a cake is our least favorite trend. We love pouring ourselves into our cakes and feel less inspired by the cupcake trend. Maybe it’s because we do so many cupcake birthdays that it never seems good enough for even a casual wedding. We seem to always prefer our moments that we put into a wedding cake. However, we happily do wedding cupcakes for anyone who feels that it suits their event!!
