Garden Grove Austin Wedding Events – Summer Wedding Open House

Garden Grove Austin Wedding Events – Summer Wedding Open House

There are so many amazing vendors in the Austin, Tx Hill Country area and I love getting to attend events that showcase their talents (and see their shining faces!) while they talk to and inspire couples looking for ideas/vendors for their wedding day.  Last month, I joined my friend-dors at Garden Grove Weddings & Events in Buda, Texas (just south of Austin and the location of our Spanish styled wedding photography workshop!!).  The “summer” vibe party was so much fun and I loved the look everyone below pulled together…plus….anytime I see the Peached Tortilla catering truck, this girl gets HUNGRY and EXCITED!!! VENDORS: Location: Garden Grove           Planner: Pink Parasol Rentals:  Bee Lavish Vintage Rentals            Linen: BBJ Linen Floral:  Copper & Birch     Catering/ Bar: Peached Tortilla Cake: Simply Delicious Custom Cakes          Chocolates: Maggie Louis Confections Wooden signs: Scripted Ever After Peached Tortilla catering truck – can we date?!? I LOVE eating all the amazingly unique food they provide at events and always highly recommend them for any wedding or event!!! The amazingly talented Simply Delicious Custom Cakes does it again!  Owner Candace is amazing and her cakes always photograph so well, but more importantly – THEY’RE SIMPLY DELICIOUS!! 🙂 Bee Lavish vintage event rentals did a gorgeous job with all the decor and seating areas…. The indoor ceremony “Plan B” at Garden Grove is always so beautiful! There are at least 5 spots for ceremonies on the property depending on your weather/look you’re going for! Planning a wedding or know someone who is?? I’m still...

Party!!!  Celebrating the new couple is always so much fun to be a part of and Ryan & Courtney’s Camp Lucy wedding reception was wonderful! With beautiful details and florals by Whim Hospitality, up-lighting and chandeliers by Altared Weddings and live music by The Pictures Band their guests couldn’t help but have an amazing time….then around 10pm, a brownie sundae bar was set up by Whim Catering before a fun sparkler exit outside of Ian’s Chapel!  There was so much planning and effort put into making this celebration gorgeous, but more importantly, seeing the couple, their families and friends have so much fun was the best part and why I love being a Camp Lucy wedding photographer! Camp Lucy – Ian’s Chapel Wedding – Ryan & Courtney Part 2

Camp Lucy – Ian’s Chapel Wedding – Ryan & Courtney Part 2

Congratulations Ryan & Courtney!!  The weather held out for their outdoor Ian’s Chapel overlook ceremony at Camp Lucy and we were all so thankful! One of the things I see often at destination Camp Lucy weddings is having all your guests come in buses from the hotel and for the first time in 10 years, I saw something that was an amazing idea and perfectly executed by Much Ado Austin and her team….providing a champagne welcome toast as the guests arrived for the ceremony!  Not just any toast, but each glass had the guest’s name and table number on a circle attached to the glass!  What a unique and fun way to start the celebration! Here is a look at the Ceremony, Cocktail Hour and a sneak peek at the Reception decor!  I’m in love with the spring colors, gorgeous floral and the lapis blue and coral color pallet!  Enjoy! If you missed it, scroll back up here when you’re done with Part 2 and check out Part 1: Camp Lucy – Ian’s Chapel Wedding – Ryan & Courtney Amazing live music by Terra Vista Strings! I see you Ms. O’Bryan being an amazing coordinator and gathering all the guests for the reception!  Whim Catering appetizers are the BEST!  Bacon wrapped figs?!?!  Yum!   Cheers to the new couple! Time to head into the reception! Oooooh…..I LOVE how elegant and fresh...
Camp Lucy – Ian’s Chapel Bridal Portraits – Courtney

Camp Lucy – Ian’s Chapel Bridal Portraits – Courtney

Hello Gorgeous Courtney!!  I’m so excited that now she’s a MRS. I can share her stunning Camp Lucy Bridal Portrait session!  This Houston-based bride met me in the newly re-designed bridal cottage at Ian’s Chapel and we spent the afternoon exploring the property she and Ryan got married at this past Saturday.  Camp Lucy is such a unique and gorgeous Hill Country (Dripping Springs) venue and the structures that were brought over from Vietnam lend itself to stunning backdrops!  Add to that a sunny, warm spring day, a colorful bouquet by the talented Whim Florals team….oh, and the beautiful bride….it was a perfect afternoon! Bridal portrait sessions not only allow us plenty of time to get photos of the bride, but it also provides a great opportunity to try a certain hairstyle, lip color, earrings and see how you felt.  On Courtney’s wedding day this past weekend, it was fun to see the small changes made after this session….she kept the earrings, pulled the hair back just a tad bit more, and tightened up the bouquet.  Congratulations Ryan & Courtney – thank you to your amazing family and friends for being wonderful to work with!  Wedding photos coming to the blog soon….until then, catch some sneak peeks on my Instagram (@jessicafreyphotography)   Now booking select dates for Fall 2017 and all of 2018! Mother of the Bride dress – Mother of the Groom dress

Mother of the Bride dress – Mother of the Groom dress

Happy Mother’s Day!!  Thinking of my own mom (and planning my wedding 13 years ago) and hoping to provide some inspiration, I’ve pulled together a ton of REAL Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom dress photos!  The beautiful women below were all gorgeous and it was an honor to capture this special time in their lives as they celebrated their daughters and sons getting married! Here’s my quick advice (after 10 years of photographing weddings!) when looking for a Mother of the Bride or Mother of the Groom dress: Be comfortable!  Get your hair and makeup done! You’ll photograph better if you’re not worried about your dress/hair/makeup! Be yourself.  (but dress up a bit more than usual!! The two times my own mom has worn a dress is my wedding and my brother’s wedding!) Consult the bride to help determine the appropriate length/color scheme that fits with the formality of the wedding day and location! (Please stay away from white, off/white or anything that may detract from the bride!) It’s customary for the Mother of the Bride to choose her color/dress first, but tradition seem to be moving away from that.  If you’re in contact with each other, maybe make a day of it and go dress shopping together (or at least have a conversation)! Start shopping at least 6 months prior to the wedding to give you time for stress-free alterations or fittings.  Invest in alterations so this once in a lifetime dress fits you perfectly for photos that will last forever! “My mom wanted something that didn’t look like a traditional mother of the bride dress,...
