When most CA residents think of Bakersfield, we typically don’t get a good rep for being pretty/gorgeous/clean blue skies/etc. No, if you’re just driving through on the 99 what you see truly isn’t pretty…we’re typically known for being 115 degrees, having dirt everywhere, not much green grass, toxic dirty air. Well, you know what? Spring here is BEAUTIFUL! For about 2 weeks every year, we shine especially on the outskirts of town at the base of those huge mountain ranges that are actually surrounding us 365 days a year even when we can’t see them! If you live in Bakersfield, you know this was the peak week/weekend for the almond orchards to be in full bloom. Allergies, bees and snow-like awesomeness unite!
I had one of my favorite local families ask to shoot their family photos in the orchards and as I scoped the particular field I wanted to use I noticed how unbelievable they were. So incredible in fact that I had another vision in my head of a bride running down one of the picturesce, snowy aisles. So, I I knew I had to make it happen asap! I knew the mom, Dana had produced stunning girls who can easily model along with the possibility of her future daughter in law who would also be at the family shoot….so why not throw my wedding dress (which has been used in more than one photo shoot now) grab some beautiful yellow daffodils which are in season and have my assistant Rachel make a bouquet with my signature color, turquoise….and try it out after the family shoot! We did just that! Thank you Jordyn for working it last minute and running ever so gracefully down the aisle for me! We had about 10 min. of light left and I’m so excited to share what I was able to capture even after the sun went down !
Here is a sneak peek at the April ad I’m using in the Bakersfield Life Magazine….thanks to Shauna Lofy Graphic Designs!
(The color didn’t translate well from the pdf, so Jordyn has more of a tan that that, I promise! haha…)
Get ready for more orchards photos…coming up on Freyday, meet my assistant that you’ll start seeing more of at photo shoots, Rachel!

Dude, I know I have said this before, but you are amazing. That first picture, the one that landed in the magazine, is probably one of the best pictures you have ever taken. And how awesome that it was spontaneous too.
It’s a tie for me with that picture and one of the ones from your Alice in Wonderland shoot. You’ve definitely got some skills! Lori makes no bones about it that you are one of the photographers who she admires and uses for inspiration. Great job Jessica!!
All stunning, but that first photo just knocks my socks off! It is so so pretty and says so much about your photography, your weddings and the brides you capture. Timeless and joyful!
these are so dreamy..love them! I think the one of her running is perfect for the magazine! wonderful job jessica! just simply stunning!
Hi there, I’ve been looking for this place since I wanted to take my upcoming wedding pictures here as well!! Can you tell me what the name of this place is? I know it’s in Bakersfield but I don’t know exactly where it is! Thank you!!
