Try #2! For those of you visiting on Thursday, the original post yesterday disappeared, and Word Press erased it. I know, boo. If you’re just visiting Wednesday’s blog post, welcome! I had the amazing opportunity to bring together two good friends and gorgeous ladies, Beth and Amanda at 5:30am in a dry lake bed outside Las Vegas for an early morning, rediculously cold bridal fashion shoot! These girls rocked it out, and yes…I did have to soften the skin to get rid of the goosebumps that just wouldn’t go away 😉 I was able to use some of the new techniques I learned while at WPPI 2011, the largest wedding photographer trade show and conference in the US.
A huge thanks goes out to Jenny from Little White Dress Bridal (Bakersfield, Ca) for loaning me 4 gorgeous gowns, to Courtney Clarke Photography (Victoria, Canada) for shooting with me, to Beth and Amanda for modeling, to Brandy Neugebauer from Las Vegas for doing a 2am hair and makeup session for us, and to Jesse Lai for assisting and taking some sweet behind the scene photos you can find on my facebook page (www.Facebook.com/JFreyPhotography)
I was able to learn a few One-light techniques that helped bring some new aspects to my photography and these girls were kind enough to let me practice! For my photographer friends, I had an SB-800, Cheetah light stand, small studio umbrella, 2 Pocket Wizards Plus II, and props that I brought from home. I had envisioned a wide angle, dramatic skies type shoot with pops of color. I am so excited with the variety of shots I was able to get and you can watch the difference from light at 5:30am until 8am and how I was able to get some beautiful looks! Thanks for following, and come back on Freyday for my very first giveaway!! A tradeshow Shootsac bag that folds up for storage and the same one I was giving away to attendees!
Natural sunlight from different angles…
Diffused light
Opposing flash…almost makes your background look fake or Photoshopped in.
It’s now 8am and we’re warm and working with full on bright light with harsh shadows, which totally works here!
THE Shot. This is what I had been envisioning in my head for months trying to put this together…so happy!
The crew: Jesse, Beth, Amanda, me and Courtney! We’re finally warm!
You know this girl has got to get great shots of shoes…especially when they sparkle so much! Here are 3 that Amanda and Beth brought with them to rock it out…and make this photographer happy 😉
Brides….Beth and her amazing dad, Art have started a company to help provide you with your special wedding day Sixpence! It’s a tradition in their family and now they’re able to spread the love and bring it back! Please go check out her website to get more information: www.AndaSixpence.com
